Holy cow it's been a minute!!
Stepped out of the country for a week and took tons of photos, caught up with Witch Hat Atelier, started seriously tackling my many projects, ALSO started concept art for the next locations in Star Quest along with finalizing scripts, all while job hunting so I can have a better dayjob!!!!! (But honestly, I just want UBI, rent control, and free healthcare so I can be comfortable indie artist....)
I'm out here doing a LOT and I got a lot of blog posts planned that goes into detail. Should also get that spring newsletter out, too....
Watching Tumblr blow up earlier this week and knowing I can just go back to my site if anything happens has me feeling "safe" when it comes to being online.
I'm not bound by a social media site that can explode at any second. If anything blows up I can just head back to my site and continue updating it and posting there like nothing happened. It's a nice "safety net" as someone who posts art online, but I kinda wish artists who also posted their art online followed suit and did something similar! I think it'd be a peace of mind to have especially on the unstable ground of social media. Sure it's slower but at least people know where to find you if one social goes down!
Holy moly does the paper you use for your printer make all the difference!!! My old art from 2010 irl looks basically the same as it does on a screen!
Like!!! Look at this!! Left is the 66lb matte cardstock from Koala, right is me struggling to get the colours to match with 65lb cardstock from Astrobrights sksndhdj

Like hello!!!!!!! I figured the paper I was using was the issue when it came to getting the blacks to show up similar to the way it appears on a screen but I had no idea how MUCH of a difference it made...
Anyway I don't think I'll be going back to the cheap paper for a while haha
Since playing through Grandia 1 through most of last month and bits of pieces of this month, I find it a little funny how I'm only just halfway through the first disc. This game really is grand! As far as progress goes I'm in the volcano near Gumbo. I had no idea that your party would be halved so I've been having to go back to previous saves and stock up on items so I can survive the next dungeon without Sue or Gadwin LOL
Speaking of Gadwin, the guy is a freaking TANK. Like of course he is BUT while I fought the Serpent in Typhoon Tower I was shocked that I managed to take it down with him only after everyone in my party got knocked out in two hits LOL. I mayyyyyyyy have gotten lucky but Gadwin's basic combo does 100+ so who knows for sure haha.
Anyway I chose to take a break from Grandia and focus on Silksong! I'll consider it a personal feat if I manage to complete this one haha. Spoilers below!
I'm currently in Act 2 and I think the Cogwork Dancers might be my favourite fight in the game so far. Purely because it's very telegraphed and the music when the third phase hits is soooo freaking good. Like hellooo. It's also giving Mantis Lords from Hollow Knight LOL.
I genuinely can't wait to see how the story develops. What's hinted is so fucked up I love it lol
I have a mountain of JRPGs I wanna play and I have a mountain of JRPGs I want to finish!!!
Funnily enough after spending a month playing Sea of Stars back in 2024 it put me in the JRPG mood that hasn't exactly faded haha. I started Grandia ealry in 2025, dropped it, then just last month I've been spending my time picking it up again and properly playing through it. Last year I also started Mystic Quest, Chrono Trigger (I really, really wanna dive back into this one after finishing Grandia if I'm still in the mood for them after!), Golden Sun, and Lunar 1... I probably missed one or two but there's just so many that grab my interest LOL
Since rewatching a playthrough of Tales of the Abyss I started looking into the Tales of series and saw myself gravitating towards Tales of Phantasia. I had to pull myself back and tell myself to "finish the others I already started!!!!" lmao
Anyway one day I'd like to check it out haha! I also wanna check out Grandia 2, Lunar 2, Breath of Fire, more in the Mana series, among many more.
The way I'm just going through twitter and scrubbing my presence off of there feels so damn freeing. Deleted my main last year and I initially was just gonna leave the rest up, but then all within this week I've deleted my VTuber account, a zine account, and currently in the process of removing my webcomic accounts. I'm on a roll here! Of course I'm downloading my data from them all before blowing them up but it feels so good haha
I used to be soooo attached to them but after 5 years of site building and creating a proper home for myself online for my art and comics I feel less attached to any social media profile I have. xD If anything happens, you can just find me on my site! It's here to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A short while ago I started printing out all of my digital art from 2009. Kinda the same with my project where I print out my worldbuilding docs (just in case someeething goes wrong- which I hope not!!!), it would just suck in general if I lost it all.
So I printed out everything, considered buying a laser printer, and just today I started stamping the dates on the back of each one. I like to know when I drew something, and while I don't know the exact date I drew these, I do remember that I hit that "submit deviation" button as soon as I finished something on MS Paint lol. So these dates might be pretty accurate.

da fruits of my labor...
Obvs there's some imperfections with the stamping, but to be completely honest...I kinda like it haha. (Except the border showing up with the period stamp sdfgbajks everything else is fine)
A part of me wants to use a hobonichi weeks planner, but the ones on JetPens are out of stock- plus there was that risk of me falling off and not using it... so instead of it going to waste I just decided to make my own instead using a tutorial by Megan Wang.
I made the template today for January and early February, now I just need to print it out and hope that nothing comes out funky!! It'd be swag if I got it on the first try.
Back on my merch and comics game. Back at it again!!! Let's freaking get it!!!!!
I've been planning a store update for a minute now, which WILL!!! include the SQ charms that I got made last month!! But I kinda wanted it to be more substansial so I'm adding more stickers, handmade photocards, and getting a sketchzine in order too!
The sketchzine I've had in the works for months, and initially I wasn't gonna add in anything that was in colour since I wanted it to be a purely B&W zine, but at this point it's turning into an art book lol. Since I started adding in sketches and WIPs the page count is increasing. It is what it is!!! I can't wait until I finish it and see/hold the final product in my hands.
I HAVE FINISHED!!! READING FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!!!!
What a damn good finale (everything is fine!!) and what a damn good story!!! I enjoyed every second of it since I started reading back in October, and now I'm gonna go watch FMAB and follow up with FMA 2003!!
I'm so happy it ended on a good note- funnily enough before I finished it I had this fucked up dream where Al finally got his body back, but Ed lost his during the giant battle and the two were basically back where they started. Q_Q The ending the manga had was way more relieving LMFAO
So I remembered I can use this to post art WIPs too instead of putting them on my blog, which is meant for longer thoughts and rambling sooooooo here's a WIP of what I'm working on during my "short break from my webcomic while my comic is on hiatus so i can build up my buffer" break!!!!!! skdfnalka
Playing with my dolls, aka my OCs. It's very gay.

It's a silly comic based off of this post from pawbeanies on tumblr! I haven't said it officially (until now i guess???) but Avaci and Hoxi were in a somewhat-secret relationship while Hoxi was alive. They didn't lean into it until after Hoxi's time as an Astra Guardian and even then it was still very much a secret. Except with Hoxi's closest friends and some acquaintances lol.
Road Trip in KARS is sooo much fun. In fact it's so much fun that I could have played it all day, but nooo... I can't, I have comics to finish before the end of the month LOL
The fog is rolling in and it's getting colder and colder the closer the north hemisphere gets to winter. Winter solstice is when the days start to get longer so I'm looking forward to that. I'm also looking forward to warmer weather too. I'm very much not a cold weather person lmao.
Kirby fans, we ride.

Yep, about a week ago I went out and nabbed a Switch 2 before the holidays so I could play Kirby Air Riders when it came out! Unfortunately I didn't get to play it last night because I was tired from dayjob + a print/lam/cut run after dayjob, but I did play through the available tracks plus a tiny bit of Road Trip and City Trial and I gotta say that this game healed me from what was basically a not-so-good morning today.
KARS is freaking gorgeous and perfect in every way. The soundtrack is spectacular, and the gameplay is so engaging!!!! I've had minimal playtime with KAR (once at a friend's house over 10 years ago, the second on Dolphin earlier this year) but seeing the older stages upgraded in HD brought a tear to my eyes. I can't wait to see how the story mode develops...
Ohhhh I'm in the zone. I'm lost in the SAUCE.
Since SacAnime back in August, I've been watching tons of studio vlogs and artist alley vlogs. I'm looking up AA and webshop tips and taking tons of notes. I'm so lost in the sauce. Girl help (do not lol)
SO! It's not a secret that I'm planning to reopen my webshop either later this year or early next year (depends on other life stuff aaaaaaaaaaaa). My goal is to aim for mostly homemade merch! Stickers, photocards, zines, & prints (though these will be outsourced for now-- if I see myself selling a lot of prints I'll invest in a printer haha)!
Recently I started to pull out my old packaging supplies and took inventory of what I had including my old merch from when my shop was open back in 2020. I was so happy that my old merch didn't up damaged... ngl they weren't stored in the best way possible, but I'm glad that they're still in good condition after all of these years.
I also found a method of homemade sticker making that works!!! Get yourself some full sheet labels, a single sheet of laminate, put two and two together, cut them out- and there you go!! It really feels like I'm back in elementary school finding and testing different ways to achieve different products haha!
On Saturday I went to SacAnime for the second time in like...oh it's been so long, haha!! Last time I went consistently like this was all the way back in the early to mid 2010s. Now that I can afford to attend every year (for now haha), walking around the artist alley was giving me a TONNN of inspiration!!!
It was a dream of mine since I was a young teen, but I'd really like to table at a con someday! And I think I can make it happen once life starts slowing down. It's crazy, it's crazy.
This is also going hand in hand with me wanting to open a webshop-- again, won't be opening until my life settles down, but I'm definitely rotating these ideas in my head.
Definitely will be selling fan art, but seeing a handful of OC artists at SacAnime Summer gives me the inspiration to lean more into OC merch than fan merch. I'm an OC artist at heart, so if I could sell OC merch that'd be stellar!!!
Holy moly does Nine Sols not fuck around. I picked up Nine Sols around the same time as now last year and played through the intro before dropping it and getting sucked into something else (Maybe it was my second run of Hollow Knight??). I literally haven't played NS in almost a year and I forgot the whole plot!!!!!
I'll need a refresher so I'll see what the wiki has to say?? Or just watch a playthorough of the opening lol
But while I was making my way through the Power Reservoir when I reached the boss, General Yingzhao. I got my ass stunlocked multiple times as I tried to figure out its pattern. I got it down after many tries, and when I thought I defeated it the second phase started LMFAO. Not what I expected on the second boss, but it is what it is!!! Anyway I got my ass handed to me.
At the very least I learned to parry correctly so that's good WOO!! Honestly I was raring to go once I got it down, but I was so lost in gamer mode that my hands were getting tired. So I had to stop!!! ><
Like Hollow Knight I'm VERY interested in this world and the story it's telling, so I definitely want to pick it up again this week!!
Me: I beat Hornet Sentinel, I can do anything!
Nine Sols: Lol. Parry this. -fucking kills me-
Today is file backup day, and generally while it's good to have a regular backup of your files (my art and worldbuilding docs especially!!) it's actually... my least favourite day. It takes sooooo long. We're talking like a whole afternoon and basically I don't look forward to it. ;__;
I have a lot of stuff saved!! BUT a few days ago I learned about FreeFileSync, and man it really makes the process so much easier!!! You can compare two folders, one from your main drive and one from your backup. You can copy the contents from your main to your backup, and if the contents match, you can just copy over the files that have changed! You can even save the config settings for later use too, to save you the trouble of selecting each folder every time you wanna sync.
This is sounding like an ad LMAO. They're based for adding a pic of a bug instead of an ad during the installation process too lol.
Honestly with how many files I have saved I should just invest in a NAS with a RAID system, but that's a hefty price tag... maybe in the future, though!! I'm also on the fence about having a mini computer running 24/7, with me planning to move soon I worry about the electricity costs ough. That and also environmental worries but this is a small raindrop compared to data centers eugh,,
In comparison maybe getting a NAS isn't so bad laughs. AAANNNYYway I thought I'd talk a bit about the cool tool I decided to use to make backing up less of a headache!!!
Goodness gracious. That's enough social media for a week! Gosh!!! As much as I love Bsky it's on veryyyyy thin ice haha. While I'm glad that it provided a respite from twitter, it's also not immune to becoming the same environment. Love the communities I've found myself in and the amount of support I've seen, but when the ugly head rears, good gosh does it!!!! So let's open this place up for a second HAHA
For my birthday this month I gifted myself Cassette Beasts, and oh my goodness I was not expecting to enjoy this game as much as I have. It's been on my wishlist since it came out and I kinda wish I played it then hahaha. It's not making me insane like Sea of Stars did (though that game is a much larger game compared to CB, and it's one story out of 5 plUS and arg- a giant interweaving storyline that takes place across multiple timelines- something I'm very normal about :] ), but it has its charm. I'd planned to set time aside to focus on Star Quest's buffer for the comic's return later this month, but most of the time went to Cassette Beasts OOPS. At the very least, I have a decent buffer of pages!
About Cassette Beasts though, it's a monster collector with a likeness to Pokemon! As a Pokemon fan, I'm always down for monster collectors that switch up the formula. And switch it up it does! As of writing I'm at the very tail end of the game so I have no idea what happens after the final battle, but the premise of the game is that you get isekai'd into a world where people from other worlds and timelines have shown up (and have been for years) and built a community. They and yourself can use cassette tapes to transform into the various monsters that inhabit said world and your goal is to leave and find your way back home!
Speaking of Pokemon, I've been meaning to get back into watching Anipoke... I had dropped off of watching it shortly after Mega Voltage began, for no reason other than Chrono Trigger grabbed my attention for a second haha. It's on the backburner for now, but it's so good I'm looking forward to playing it again once I finish Cassette Beasts.
I spent the day ignoring social media-- man it feels GREAT! I have got to take better care of my well being, and staying off of sites that take my attention away (and leave me feeling upset) is a start.
While working on thumbnails for Star Quest chapter 3, I started listening to the soundtrack of Kirby Air Ride (especially since a sequel(?) was revealed yesterday!!) and stopped working on thumbs on a whim to pull up Dolphin to play it! It's been ages since I last played (like over 10 years...wack) and I forgot how terrible I was at the game LOL BUT!!!! I had a lot of fun and I believe I'm getting the hang of the control scheme! One thing I'm not used to YET is the lightning speed KAR goes at. Oh man. That's fast. But it's fun like I said!!
Since I'm trying to keep off of socials I might be using this more, which is a win haha.
I was thinking about bringing back the microblog, a something similar like what I had a few years ago (before I merged it and the blog and yadda lol). So! Let's do this again!
I've been playing Fields of Mistria again and I'm ENGROSSED. Like it's almost to where I was when I was playing through Sea of Stars. Okay, maybe to not that extent, but I'm picking it up to play for a few hours every day! Not only do I adore 80s/90s anime art style the characters have, but I adore the soundtrack too! As someone who grew up playing tons of GBA games as a kid, the GBA in general is very nostalgic for me. Some of the tracks (especially the Mines) remind me of PMD and outside of the mines I get a hint of the Mother 3 soundtrack in there too! Good stuff there.
Speaking of games I played Sonic Adventure 2 for the first time after watching the third movie about a week ago. I've played a handful of modern Sonic games but experiencing one of the first modern games after spending most of my life watching vids and hearing others' experience with it is a treat. SA2 is so full of jank but I love it to bits already!!! The camera is janky and there were a couple times where I felt like I was fighting with it, the audio mixing in the cutscenes is AWFUL!!! Characters talk over each other, sometimes the mouths don't move with the voice, and I can barely hear anyone over the loud af music LMFAO but it's charming along with the voice acting! I'm excited knowing I can experience the Chao Garden for the first time and I can't wait to pick it up again once my Mistria fixation wanes.
Seriously it's so much fun. I'm thinking about trying SA1 and Shadow the Hedgehog once I finish up SA2. And with Sea of Stars being mentioned I should finish up The Messenger too..hmmmm
Hey there wanderer! Looks like you found my new space here, where all of my thoughts get thrown in here. This was another impulse idea I got after coming across the many microblogs on the indie web! Funnily enough I did have something similar before I started my actual blog (which was my changelog at first). Those ended up becoming blog posts later.
Anyway a couple days ago I picked up Hollow Knight again for the first time in about 5 years. I distinctly remember playing it on my (now) old laptop, since it was one of the few games I could afford at the time and the handful of games that could run on it. That's why the current theme of this page is themed after Greenpath, one of my favourite areas in the game!
I'm having a lot of fun rediscovering the areas of HK and learning how to play it again. Last year I was able to acquire a used Steam Deck so I've been playing it on that, and the performance when you have a little bit more RAM and not running on a hard drive is drastic, haha. If memory serves my old laptop has around 4gb of RAM. I was using a used Logitech controller that had a bit of drift, so that was my experience, lol. I had to work with what I had as a broke college student!
Give myself a few years to upgrade my stuff and I can finally play Hollow Knight for real. >:] Everything is so much faster and responsive!! And also, I decided to play through a new file and not pick up my old file from 2019. Maybe one day I'd like to go back to it, but I want a fresh new experience!
I'm still very much in the beginning portions of the game. Hornet was the last boss I fought and right now I'm trying to upgrade my nail, so I want to head to City of Tears to get it, but it's looking like I have to go through the Mantis Village to get there. My memory on how to get to certain locations is definitely fuzzy. I don't remember a whole lot!
I'm also rediscovering my love for this game's world! I remember reading up on the wiki to learn about that sweet, sweet lore lmfao. Analyzing the descriptions of statues, monuments, and the descriptions of NPCs when you struck them with the Dream Nail. Hell I even think HK subconsciously influenced my writing, what I like in writing, and Star Quest and Ad Astra by proxy, too lmfao.
