Well!! I've gone and done it! I finally left twitter. @__@
I'd already been wanting to leave twitter since 2020 not gonna lie, but with how active it was along with a majority of my friends being there combined with my fear of missing out and losing my audience, it made it difficult for me to leave it for good.
I tried multiple times to leave since 2021-this year since the site's general vibe has been plummeting REAL HARD, but the reasons above prevented me, or made me feel like I couldn't leave (despite everything being OK when I did leave for a week or a couple days).
I tried moving back to Tumblr and sitting on my site, but I would eventually find myself flocking back to the birdcage after a few days of not checking. I was really in a rut! Wants to leave, has a desire for attention, but the thought of going to twitter and existing on there made me disgusted. I really felt like this pikachu opening twitter some days.
It got worse after twitter was bought out. I'm still not calling it X haha. Being on the site last year in 2023 up to the present and watching it slowly evolve into a toxic tar pit was driving me wild. Couldn't have a good day without someone trying to start something for clout, without making rumors and lies, without a callout post, this feels all too familar!!! Gahhhh
ENTER BLUESKY!
Come July 2023 I got my invite to Bluesky, and I signed up as fast as possible. Sure it looked like twitter (which I have some hangups about) and some features were missing, but the general consensus on the site was that the user base didn't want to become a tarpit like twitter. Which was fine by me haha. Everyone was about lifting eachother up and being supportive, while giving bad actors absolutely nothing.
Bluesky has been taking off as of late as far as artist and VTuber circles I'm in, and it's refreshing to see. I can see art on my timeline! No one is dunking on each other, no one is beating anyone's ass in the QRTs! People are finally getting along!!!!! peace and love on planet earth!!!!
I love Bsky right now, but as with any social media site, there's a possibility that it could change for the worst in the future. I've seen it with deviantART, tumblr, and twitter. And if Bluesky does evolve for the worst, I might start communicating with carrier pigeons and letters... just kidding I might just leave social media because I'm tired haha
But I like to think positively, so I don't wanna worry about what could happen if Bsky did etc etc. For now I'm just enjoying my time hanging out at a new mall. But I have my hand on the door if things get dicey.
