BACK ON MY BS!!
We're attempting OCTober again but instead of shooting for something a week, I'm just gonna do it whenever I feel like it!!!
This first OCTober post features Umbra, the famous artist, and Ambu, her opposite. Both are important characters in Prisma Paint (temp name) and have been floating in my head for months now.
UMBRA
Umbra Ozo-Tull is the famous artist and Crafter, known all across the many regions on planet Palettia. While they mostly kept to themselves, she got along amicably with others in her vicinity, happily drawing requests for anyone who asked. It wasn't long until her work reached ears of a Crafter (still workshopping their name aksndhdk), who presented her the opportunity to become one. Umbra took the new role as guardian, but learned too late that this wasn't the role for her.
As a Crafter, her job would be to protect the Prisma Shard of (workshopping location name) and to repaint any parts that turned monochrome. This, plus keeping up with her own obligations as an artist, turned her to resent art. All in all she was tired, burned out, and wanted everything to stop. During her meltdown, they created Ambu and claimed everything she disliked about being a Crafter, an artist, and wanted everything to stop. She wanted to rest.
Ambu heard everything loud and clear and took Umbra's pleads to heart. As a response they shattered the Prisma Shard Umbra was guarding, causing the entire surrounding area to turn monochrome, turning it into a wasteland. Umbra quickly realized their mistake and tried to make swift action of Ambu, but they were too far gone. Ambu escaped and let themselves loose with the same goal of destroying each and every Prisma Shard.
AMBU
Ambu is the shadowy manifestation of Umbra's thoughts. They were born out of frustration, despair, and self loathing.
Ambu does not speak, emote, or anything for that matter... They act based on their goal of making Umbra happier, which is to destroy every last Prisma Shard on Palettia to finally rid her of the burden of being a Crafter and having to keep up with her art obligations.
Unfortunately for everyone, Ambu took this to the extreme and is now actively destroying the planet.

And there you have it! The catalyst for Prisma Paint's plot. It feels really good to talk about these characters in some length even though I may end of switching things around between now and when I get around to sharing the story (idk when that'll be dfjkdsfnkdsl) considering I've had them floating in my head for a handful of months. Also it just feels good to ramble about OCs in general without having to hide bits and parts away for spoilers! Technically this counts as a spoiler, but the final version of Prisma Paint may be wildly different from this version haha
Also I just wanted to talk a bit about Umbra- I really did go out and make the most Exhausted Tired Burned Out Artist Ever. They have eyebags, they're perpeturally tired and haven't seen more than a few hours of sleep at a time in days, they have RSI and wear wrist support braces (those aren't fingerless gloves hahaaaa), pretty sure she has back pain in her late 20s.... but despite all of that, she'll learn and everything will get better in the end.
